Hey everyone, just wanted to see if anyone has noticed anything similar, or has any possible explanation for this? My account is in the fitness niche with roughly 85k followers. My engagement is pretty poor right now (averaging 1,800k likes per post, which I think is due to a large amount of ghost followers I've accumulated over the time of having my account, as well as having a now-oversaturated niche), despite having been averaging around 8-10% about a year ago.
I had previously been using 25-30 hashtags when my engagement had been good, however as it started decreasing over the months; I've tried to do 1, 3, 5, 10 hashtags, etc., but to no avail. Nothing has changed in my style of posting, and the quality of content has improved, if anything. The best engagement I seem to get now is if I use NO hashtags, and incorporating them seems to only make things far worse.
I'm not using any banned hashtags, aiming to use a ladder style approach, etc., etc. It seems like I'm covering all my bases, but have no idea why the massive downturn in my engagement, and why hashtags seem to have the opposite effect now.
If anyone could shed some light on the situation (even just if it's just a theory), it'd be much appreciated!
